Fewer than 10 rappers are signed to any record label in Ghana. It’s a
sad figure, but there are plenty of unsigned emcees making some of the
tightest raps in the game. One artiste I enjoyed working with was Grey
of Army music fame. Chasing his music as a fan for so many years I
realized that he looked and sounded different from the game and had to
work much harder for mainstream recognition.
A dream doesn’t become reality through
magic,It takes sweat, determination and hard-work so I once took it upon
myself to work with him. Consistently I sent him 3 different messages on
Facebook but he never replied. Winners don’t quit and the future
belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams so again i
sent him dm on twitter and he replied. He was like yo where the studio
dey and I was like boss I dey awoshie juntion. Again he went like ok
then I will be around on Saturday.
He delivered on his promise as he came
around on Saturday. I played some beats and he chose like three with
joy. He was like damn these my kind of beats. I was feeling cool and I
was like yeah i got him. He wrote his lyrics, did corrections,I recorded
him and it was banger.
