Kanye West takes a moment during a recent show to address the Recording Academy.
As is yearly custom, Kanye West went on a rant about the Grammy Awards during his recent show in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Making sure he got in a few words about the Grammys before the end of
the year, 'Ye discussed award losses and lack of nominations both old
and new. “I love Maroon 5, but when I lost for 'Best New Artist' to
Maroon 5… Or when Watch the Throne and Dark Fantasy,
neither of them got nominated for 'Album of the Year,' or when 'Niggas
in Paris' didn’t get nominated for 'Record of the Year'… So don’t expect
to see me at the Grammys this year, you nah mean?!”
Kanye conceded that the "Grammy Family" consisting of him, Common,
and John Legend have won 18 awards, but quickly added that they were in
"all of the black categories."
