Yelawolf and Travis Barker explain their the nature and origin of their collaboration.
Yelawolf and Travis Barker's oft-discussed project Psycho White seemingly came out of the blue. But, the way the two artists tell it to Billboard, coming together to record was a gradual process.
Barker explained that he was introduced to Yelawolf's Trunk Muzik through
Barker's manager. "He said, 'Check this kid out. He looks like you but
he's a rapper,'" recalled Barker. "I thought he was fucking ridiculous."
Shortly thereafter, the two met at Rob Drydek's Fantasy Factory in
Los Angeles. Yelawolf later linked with Barker on Lil Wayne's 2009 "I Am
Music" tour, "[Yelawolf] said he wanted a real high-energy track. It
was 4 a.m., and everyone was getting sloppy in the hotel lobby," said
Barker. "I had a portable studio. I went to my room and right there
recorded the drums to ['Psycho White's' first single] 'Push 'Em.'"
Yelawolf explained that he and Barker had instant chemistry. "Even if
he and I had never heard each other's music before, we just knew," he
says. "We had a kindred vision.""
