Rick Ross and Jeezy Backstage Brawl at BET Hip Hop Awards

October 3, 2012

Saturday night’s taping of the BET Hip Hop Awards went almost according to plan until Jeezy and Rick Ross crossed paths. The two had alot to say to each other and eventually started pushing and shoving and then the scuffling unfolded until security and their bodyguards seperated. Police reports of the incident even state that shots were fired but according to DJ Drama’s first person account of the situation he didnt mention any shots and said both rappers left the incident unscratched.

BET has issued a statement saying:

“BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta. For the past seven years BET has celebrated the true art form of hip-hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place. BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”

Recently I have been putting together quite a few downtempo, trip hop style beats for various projects and I thought it might be useful for me to share the basic process I use to get things started.

Be aware this is just the foundation for a beat and only one way of doing it, styles and technique will vary massively from project to project … but I figured some of you may find the techniques used here useful. I have used Cubase with stock plug-ins and instruments here but the technique...
